Kansas 00 Race Report

David Reutimann, No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota, finished 35th and is 28th in points.

DAVID REUTIMANN SUMMARY
:  No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota driver David Reutimann finished 35th in Sunday’s 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Kansas Speedway. Reutimann appeared to have a good car in the early going as he raced from the rear of the field into the top 25. While running 20th, he came to pit road for a routine pit stop on lap 126, but quickly radioed the crew the car had broken a left rear axle. The issue forced the No. 00 back to pit road for repairs and he returned to the track in 36th seven laps down to the leaders. The Michael Waltrip Racing team returns to action at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

REUTIMANN NOTES:
- Raced his way back into top 25 by lap 30 and continued to move forward
- Came to pit road for a green flag stop on lap 126 while in 20th, but broke the left rear axle leaving
  the pit box
- Returned to pit road one lap later to repair the axle and returned to the track seven laps down

REUTIMANN QUOTE: “That was a tough break. We were able to stay on the lead lap and were gaining on it each time, but when we came to pit road on lap 126 we broke the axle leaving the pit box. We had to go back down pit road for repairs and that cost us big. We fell about seven laps down and that pretty much took us out of contention for the day. The Aaron’s team gave it their all to get us back out there as fast as we could, but seven laps is a big deficit and we just couldn’t get it back. I’m proud of my team for working hard all day. These guys have kept their heads up all year and just keep getting after it each week. We’ll catch a break soon – hopefully next weekend in Charlotte. We run pretty well there and we could use a good run.”
