Martin Truex Jr.: How was your qualifying lap? “We were a little better than that in practice. Felt like we had maybe a shot at the pole. Track temperature is up. We’re trying to figure out where we missed it a little bit. The car’s got good speed in it which is good and we’ve been happy about that all day, so overall it was an okay lap. Better than where we were in practice.
Has the track changed since last year? “Yeah, you know with it being repaved last year, it’s just going to continue to get better. Obviously, the tire is still pretty hard, which makes it difficult to get grip. With the track getting some time on it, some wear on it, it definitely hasn’t been edgy today. You can kind of drive the car a little bit harder and still feel like you’re in control. You weren’t really -- last year, there were times you just felt like you were along for the ride. It was hard to do anything with what you had. Hopefully, the groove will widen out. It’s pretty narrow right now. It should get wider, so we’ll see what happens.”
• Two Sprint Cup Series practices are schedule for tomorrow.
