AF Waltrip Rolex 24 Qualifying Report
The No. 56 AF Waltrip Ferrari will start 38th of the 60 cars that will race in this weekend’s 50th running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Portuguese driving ace Rui Aguas qualified the No. 56 Ferrari for the AF Waltrip team. The 39-year-old driver posted a speed of 115.350 mph around the 3.56-mile, 12-turn superspeedway road circuit. The speed is the 26th quickest of the 42 GT cars that posted a qualifying lap.
“I’m happy with our qualifying run,” said Aguas. “The key to 24 hour races is to be running at the end. Our team did a fantastic job getting this Ferrari ready for Daytona. I feel honored to drive a Ferrari as it makes its debut at Daytona. I can’t thank Rob Kauffman enough for giving me this opportunity. We now need to focus on making our car reliable and be there at the end.”
The AF Waltrip Racing Team includes drivers Michael Waltrip, Rob Kauffman, Travis Pastrana and Aguas. Full coverage of the race that begins at 3:30 p.m. EST Saturday can be seen on SPEED -TV and heard on MRN Radio. Timing and scoring is available at www.grandam.com.
